Happy Birthday, K!!

It's K's birthday today! She's a couple of weeks older than me, something I point out as often as I think I can get away with it and not risk getting smacked in the head with a shoe. She wears shoes with wooden soles.

Anyway, since it's her birthday, I thought I'd post her show profile and a few of her pieces today.
~~~~~
K is a Georgia artist living and creating in N-------, Georgia. She displays her art at the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts and sits in as a demonstrating artist whenever she can.
She views her art as an expression of the spiritual exploration of herself and the Universe around her. She embraces the divine through Goddess inspired energy, translating it into a vibrant, primitive outpouring. She enjoys using bold, bright colors that leap from the surface and grab your attention, drawing you deeper into the work to find layers of color and movement - some subtle, others quite obvious.
Whatever her creative medium, she enjoys working with a variety of symbols, shapes, and styles, including the flowing grace and ancient beauty of Celtic knot-work, bringing her own modern flair and interpretation to a centuries-old craft.
She has recently crossed mediums and begun expressing her creativity with fused dichroic glass. She is excited to incorporate her original art into some of her pieces. She is always striving, seeking, grasping for the next evolutionary explosion of her art - you never know what new medium or obsession will fill her studio next!
As well as her work at the GHCA, K has painted several murals at Zoo Atlanta and Georgia State University and has several album covers to her credit.
One of my favourite of K's pieces hanging in this show - I call it Aurora. It reminds me of photos I've seen of the Northern Lights. Watercolor.
This one's called Shakti, and I dig her hair. Acrylic on canvas.
Call me crazy, but I just don't think it's right when your art is staring back at you... Acrylic on canvas.
Feminine Divine. Acrylic on canvas.
That's a good start, I think. Happy birthday, sister-of-my-heart!
Beautiful paintings!
You know my dear, it's not great to suppress names when it comes to creative work... intellectual property and all that. You talented womyn should take full credit for your creations. Just sayin'.
Rachel, I understand - I'm trying to protect privacy a little and don't usually mention names on this blog...but since she signed her work so clearly and left a comment, well - her name's Kerri...but I'm too lazy to fix that in the post. Sigh.
Kerri, how was the fondu??? Mmmmm...fondu...
