Quote of the day...er...week...umm...hey, look, a quote!!

Tibi gratias agimus quod nihil fumas.

It says "...freedom of...", not "...freedom from...".

Nolite te bastardes carburundorum!

"It's amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered, and if we're compassionate we'll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint." - Penn Jillette

Why Shade and Sweetwater

"Shade and Sweetwater" is a blessing.

Imagine a desert, sun-blasted, blinding, dry.

Now imagine what it must be like to be in the midst of that desert's dunes and stones. Dry mouth. Parched lips. Dusty throat. Eyes squinting against the glare, head aching from the constant light.

Now imagine that you come to a green place of grass, tall trees and flowing waters. The grass soothes your aching feet, the trees make blessed shade and give freely of their fruit, and the water flows clean and sweet, cool and delightful to your tongue.

Shade and Sweetwater is a blessing. Whatever the desert in your life is, I wish you shade and sweetwater to ease your way, to calm and center you, to renew and refresh, to give hope and strength.

Shade and Sweetwater.
