You Lookin' at Meme?

I ran across this one over at the delightful Magpie Musing. It's quite simple, and it's a new one for me - and y'all know I can't pass up a new one!

The rules are:

1) Copy this list into your blog, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you've eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment here linking to your results.

And the list (bonus parenthetical comments included because I can't just give a simple answer) :

1. Venison
2. Nettle Tea (not very fond of it, really)
3. Huevos Rancheros (I have much liking for good huevos)
4. Steak Tartar (I have eaten this for politeness' sake, but would not do so again)
5. Crocodile (no, but I've eaten Alligator)
6. Black Pudding
7. Cheese Fondue (and I'd (fon)do it again, too!!)

12. Pho
13. PB&J Sandwich

44. Goat's Milk
45. Malt Whiskey from a bottle worth $120 or more

60. Carob Chips
61. S'mores
62. Sweetbreads (Never again. Never. Again. There's only so much polite anyone can expect of me.)

92. Soft Shell Crab
93. Rose Harissa
94. Catfish
95. Mole Poblano
96. Bagel and Lox
97. Lobster Thermidor
98. Polenta
99. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee

Whew - so I've had seventy out of the hundred, and would only rule out twelve-and-a-half items (some of which I've actually tried so I KNOW I don't like them). Not bad for a redneck, huh??

On firther consideration, I had a thought: "Holy crap, I will eat just about anything, won't I??"

  1. Wow, you WILL eat just about anything! You may be my polar opposite in eating. I've eaten only five of the items, the "normal stuff" like PBJ, root beer floats, etc... Of course, my wife says that I have the most boring palette of anyone.

Wow, that list has some scary things on it. (shudders)

  2. Yeah - you've eaten a lot!

I eat truffles once in a blue moon, but I don't get them. Some people find them positively orgasmic...

  3. Blogger Dad, I was raised to believe that one should eat what one was offered by one's host, regardless of how one felt about the fare.

I am not that polite, any more. I think it was the sheep's eyes that decided the fate of my good manners - one should only have to go so far for the sake of another's feelings. I ate them the one time, and that was enough. I am polite about refusing...but I refuse nonetheless.

Magpie - yep, some folks just love truffles...but I think they taste a bit musty and fungal and don't much care for them.
